Since early 2021 I’ve been photographing the alternative rock band, Eternum Joy. The band is a four-piece with T’kius on lead guitar, Stephen on rhythm guitar and vocals, Abby on bass and Josh on drums. There have been many alterations to the band over the years as members come and go and at one point, there were five members. Josh is the newest member of the band joining in October 2023 and giving his own unique take on the drum kit.
The main reason why I started photographing the band was that the bass player Abby is my younger sister so naturally, the band were always around the house. It was like having a free project put in front of you which very rarely happens in photography.
Because of my personal link to the band, I would follow them everywhere and photograph them in all kinds of places, both candid and posed. I've already made a book about the band as I feel like I will be photographing them for years to come, so to have a checkpoint of their career documented is a great feeling.
Not long after the book was released the band signed their first professional record deal and released their debut EP in April 2023 whilst also parting ways with their drummer who appears often in the book. This has already given it some historic value. Since this, the band has also parted ways with the label.
I plan to photograph the band for as long as they exist and with each of them focused on what they want from themselves at such a young age I’m confident about their success in the next few years.
The gallery below will keep getting longer as I update it with the most recent photos I find worthy of being displayed.
